The Promethean ActivBus is an ActivClassroom In Motion! The Bus came to EPIC Elementary to demonstrate to the students the uses and power of their new Promethean boards.

The third grade students at EPIC participated in the democratic process this week when they voted for one girl and one boy from their class to represent them in the Student Government Association.

Current SGA members visited each third grade class to explain what the SGA is and how important it is at our school. They explain how voting for SGA representatives closely resembles what their parents do when they vote for leaders in our city, state, or nation.

Each student who was interested in becoming a representative had to have a recommendation from their teacher and write a short essay explaining “Why I want to be in SGA.” The students then had to present the essay to their classmates. “The competition was tough,” commented Ms. Graves, a faculty advisor. “Students touched on topics from being the voice for their classmates, helping the school to become a better place, and most importantly improving their leadership skills.”

Students who were chosen are expected to uphold the SGA expectations throughout the year and actively participate in all programs and events. Congratulations to all the newly elected members of the SGA!
